Visiting Us - Directions to Downtown Hospital




New York Downtown Hospital is located in Lower Manhattan, near City Hall, at 170 William Street. The Hospital is between Beekman, Spruce and Gold Streets and is easily accessible by car and public transportation.

By Subway

Take the # 1 to Chambers Street. Transfer to the Downtown # 2 or 3 and follow the directions below.
Take the # 2 or 3 to Fulton Street: Exit and proceed 2 blocks uptown from the intersection of Fulton Street on William Street to Beekman Street. The Hospital entrance is just ahead.
Take the # 4 or 5 to Fulton Street: Exit and proceed 2 blocks east from Broadway on Fulton Street then 2 blocks uptown on William Street to Beekman Street. The Hospital entrance is just ahead.
Take the # 6 to Brooklyn Bridge - City Hall: Leave the transit system up the stairs opposite City Hall, near Pace University, and go to Beekman Street east 1 block to William Street and the Hospital entrance or transfer to the Downtown # 4 or 5 and follow the directions above.
Take the A or C to Broadway / Nassau: Follow station signs to William and Fulton Streets exit. Proceed 2 blocks uptown on William Street to Beekman Street and the Hospital entrance.
Take the E to World Trade Center: Exit and go east 3 blocks on Fulton Street crossing Broadway to William Street. Turn left on William Street and proceed 2 blocks uptown to Beekman Street and the Hospital entrance.
Take the J, M or Z to Fulton Street: Exit and proceed east from the intersection of Nassau Street on Fulton Street, turn left on William Street and go 2 blocks uptown to Beekman Street and the Hospital entrance.
Take the R or W to City Hall: Exit and cross City Hall Park, past the fountain, to Park Row and proceed straight ahead 2 blocks on Beekman Street to William Street. The Hospital entrance is at William and Beekman Streets.

By Bus

Take the M15 (City Hall service on Second Avenue / East Broadway) or M22 (Downtown service on Madison Street) or M103 (Downtown service on Third Avenue / Bowery) or B51 (Manhattan service from Brooklyn) to City Hall. Cross Park Row and proceed straight ahead on Beekman Street 2 blocks to William Street. The Hospital entrance is at William and Beekman Streets.

Take the M9 (Downtown service on 14th Street / Avenue B / Essex Street) or the M15 (South Ferry service on Second Ave) to Pearl and Frankfort Streets just past the Brooklyn Bridge overpass. Go 1 block west on Frankfort Street to Gold Street. Make a left on Gold Street and go 1 block to Spruce Street.Make a left on Gold Street and go to 83 Gold Street. This is the Gold Street Hospital entrance.

Take the M1 or M6 (Downtown service on Broadway) to City Hall. Cross City Hall Park, past the fountain. Cross Park Row and proceed straight ahead on Beekman Street 2 blocks to William Street. The Hospital entrance is at William and Beekman Streets.

Take the M20 (Downtown service on 7th Avenue / Varick Street) to Chambers Street. Go east on Chambers Street 4 blocks to Centre Street. Go downtown on Centre Street 1 block to Park Row. Cross Park Row and proceed straight ahead on Beekman Street 2 blocks to William Street. The Hospital entrance is at William and Beekman Streets.



By Downtown Alliance Connection (within Lower Manhattan)

Take the free Downtown Alliance Connection bus with stops from Warren Street and North End Avenue on the West Side south on West Street through Battery Park City. This bus goes around the tip of Lower Manhattan and up Water Street to Fulton Street. Exit and proceed west on Fulton Street 3 blocks to Gold Street. Then turn right to 83 Gold Street. This is the Gold Street Hospital entrance.

By Greyhound or Trailways Bus

From Port Authority Bus Terminal, take the A or C subway (see subway directions, above).

By Train

From Penn Station, take the # 2 or 3 subway (see subway directions, above)

From Grand Central Terminal, take the # 4 or 5 subway (see subway directions, above)

By PATH Train

Take the PATH Train (from New Jersey (NJ)) to World Trade Center (WTC). Exit and proceed straight on Fulton Street 3 blocks to William Street. Make a left on William Street and go to Beekman Street. The Hospital entrance is just ahead.

By Car

From Manhattan's East Side
Take the FDR (East River) Drive to Brooklyn Bridge / Civic Center Exit. Bear right off ramp. Make a right on Frankfort Street to Gold Street. Make a left on Gold Street and go to 83 Gold Street. This is the Gold Street Hospital entrance.

From Manhattan's West Side and Points North of New York City
Take the Henry Hudson Parkway (NY9A) to 57th Street Exit. Continue downtown on the West Side (Joe DiMaggio) Highway. Make a left on Vesey Street (1 block south of Chambers Street) to Park Row. Turn right 1 block on Spruce Street to Gold Street. Turn right and go to 83 Gold Street. This is the Gold Street Hospital entrance.

From Brooklyn, Staten Island and Goethals Bridge / Outerbridge Crossing (via Brooklyn Bridge)
Take the Brooklyn Queens Expressway (BQE – I-278) to Brooklyn Bridge Exit. Cross the Brooklyn Bridge and take the Park Row South Exit to the first traffic light at Park Row and Spruce Street. Turn left 1 block on Spruce Street to Gold Street. Turn right and go to 83 Gold Street. This is the Gold Street Hospital entrance.

From Brooklyn, Staten Island and Goethals Bridge / Outerbridge Crossing, Newark Airport (via Brooklyn Battery Tunnel)
Take the Brooklyn Queens Expressway (BQE – I-278) to Brooklyn Battery Tunnel. Make a right out of the Tunnel to Trinity Place, which becomes Church Street. Turn right at Vesey Street to Park Row. Turn right 1 block on Spruce Street to Gold Street. Turn right and go to 83 Gold Street. This is the Gold Street Hospital entrance.

From Holland Tunnel
Take the Holland Tunnel to Canal Street. Turn right on West Broadway to Vesey Street. Turn left on Vesey to Park Row. Turn right 1 block on Spruce Street to Gold Street. Turn right and go 83 Gold Street. This is the Gold Street Hospital entrance.

From Queens, Long Island, LaGuardia Airport
Take the Grand Central Parkway (GCP) or the Long Island Expressway (LIE - I495) to the Brooklyn Queens Expressway (BQE – I-278) to Brooklyn Bridge Exit. Cross the Brooklyn Bridge and take the Park Row South Exit to the first traffic light at Park Row and Spruce Street. Turn left 1 block on Spruce Street to Gold Street. Turn right and go to 83 Gold Street. This is the Gold Street Hospital entrance.

By Ferry

Take the Staten Island Ferry to Manhattan, exit the Ferry Terminal and take the # 1 at South Ferry, the # 4 or 5 at Bowling Green or the R or W at Whitehall Street Uptown (see subway directions, above)

Take the New York Waterway or the Seastreak to Manhattan, Pier 11 - Wall Street. Take the M9 or the M15 or the Downtown Alliance Connection bus (see directions above) or proceed uptown 5 blocks on Water Street to Fulton Street. Proceed 3 blocks on Fulton Street to Gold Street. Turn right and go to 83 Gold Street. This is the Gold Street Hospital entrance.

Take the New York Water Taxi to Manhattan, Pier 17 - South Street Seaport. Go west 5 blocks on Fulton Street to Gold Street and then right 1 block to Beekman Street. Turn left 1 block on Beekman Street to William Street and the Hospital entrance.

Take the Liberty Water Taxi to Manhattan, North Cove - World Financial Center. Take a taxi, or the Downtown Alliance Connection bus (see directions above) or proceed uptown 1 block on North End Avenue to Vesey Street and then right 5 blocks past the World Trade Center site to Broadway. Cross Broadway to Ann Street and go 2 blocks east to William Street. Turn left 1 block on William Street to Beekman Street and the Hospital entrance.
