Application Process


For the 2011-2012 Academic year PGY-I we are recruiting for 16 Categorical positions and 5 Preliminary positions.

Interested applicants for the 2011-2012 academic year are required to submit their application through the Electronic Residency Application Service(ERAS) citing Program ID# 140-35-31-289 for the New York Downtown Internal Medicine Residency Program. We participate in the National Residency Matching Program(NRMP) and encourage its use by our applicants. We do not accept the Universal Application or paper applications. Our application deadline through ERAS is January 15, 2011. Our interview period begins in late November and runs until early February. All applications are considered in their entirety; therefore please refer to the following list to ensure a successful completion of the application.


Our Program Requirements:

There is no minimum USMLE score requirement for the application to this program.

The program sponsors H1-B and J-1 visas for exceptional candidates.

Although encouraged, it is not required to have U.S. clinical experience before entering this program.

Although encouraged, a valid ECFMG certificate is NOT required to appear for an interview.

There is no minimum year of graduation from medical school to apply to this program.

Candidates are considered from both U.S. and foreign medical schools.

We do not offer externships.
