Fourteenth Annual Gala Dinner Dance

Join us to honor
Dr. Bruce D. Logan, Dr. Victor I. Rosenberg, and architect David M. Childs, FAIA

Thursday, October 11, 2007
Cipriani Wall Street

2007 marks the 150th anniversary of the founding of The New York Infirmary for Indigent Women and Children, New York Downtown Hospital's forerunner, by America's first female physician, Elizabeth Blackwell, M.D. To celebrate this milestone, our Fourteenth Annual Gala Dinner Dance will be held at Cipriani Wall Street on Thursday, October 11th. The event will be chaired by Trustee Giovanna Cipriani, Executive Vice President of Cipriani USA.

We are proud to announce that Downtown Hospital's highest honor, the Elizabeth Blackwell MD
Medal
, will be awarded to Bruce D. Logan, M.D. in recognition of his medical expertise, compassionate care, wise stewardship, and teaching excellence in Dr. Blackwell's tradition. Dr. Logan has served the Downtown community with dedication for over 30 years, as a physician, Chief Medical Officer, and President and CEO of Downtown Hospital.

The recipient of the Distinguished Physician Award will be Victor I. Rosenberg,
M.D
., nationally recognized as a brilliant physician and innovative practitioner in the field of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. For 44 years, Dr. Rosenberg has served his patients and Downtown Hospital with distinction.

The Community Service Award will be presented to architect David M. Childs, FAIA, Consulting Design Partner of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, for his world-class architectural masterpiece Freedom Tower at Ground Zero, which will rise as a monument to the determination and courage of our city and the world. David Childs and his team exemplify the highest standards of architectural design, and are providing the centerpiece of a vibrant, green community in Lower Manhattan.

Many of you have generously and consistently supported the Hospital at its Galas since 1993. You will recall the wonderful experiences we shared at many spectacular venues, from the Winter Garden at the World Financial Center, the Regent Wall Street, the Copacabana, to Cipriani 42nd Street in 2005. This year we are returning to our neighborhood at the historic downtown landmark, Cipriani Wall Street, on Thursday, October 11. Cocktail reception starts at 6:30 pm, followed by dinner and awards presentation at 7:30 pm.

The Annual Gala is Downtown Hospital's largest annual fundraising event. Proceeds directly support the critical programs and services of the Hospital and will benefit the many residents, workers, and visitors in the Lower Manhattan community.

Your participation is important and we hope everyone will join us once again to make this event a great success. In honoring the exceptional accomplishments of Dr. Logan, Dr. Rosenberg, and architect David Childs, your contribution will have a positive impact on the community in which we all have a vested interest. Your greeting in the commemorative Journal will be a personal way to congratulate or pay tribute to our deserving honorees. The closing date for the Journal is September 19, 2007. Please call Cora Fung at (212) 801-1723 to reserve your place and be part of the celebration!
