The Human Resources Department at New York Downtown Hospital strives to deliver quality programs and services stressing performance improvement to enhance our ability to attract, develop and retain an excellent staff and management team to further the Hospital's goals and objectives. The Human Resources Department provides many services to support the employees that comprise the New York Downtown Hospital community.

• Collective bargaining with the National Health and Human Services Employee Union Local 1199, Communication Workers of America Local 1104, SEIU Local 721 and the Downtown Hospital Housestaff Association. These four labor organizations comprise approximately half of the Hospital's workforce.

• Comprehensive compensation and benefit programs including health and dental benefits, life insurance, disability and workers' compensation programs, tuition reimbursement and a tax deferred annuity plan.

• Retention of employees through management development, reward and recognition programs (Employee-of-the-Month, Service Awards, Secretaries Day, etc.), Hospital subsidized housing and parking and employee discount programs.

In total, the Human Resources Department serves the 1200 people who work at Downtown Hospital, including physicians, nurses, technicians, service employees, administrative support, customer service and other ancillary care personnel.
