Our Hospital's full-service New York radiology department takes a patient-centered approach to diagnostic care. Through the skills of specialty radiologists and knowledgeable physicians, diagnostic information comes into focus and beneficial treatments are guided by imagery. These radiology services at New York Downtown Hospital blend top technology with heartfelt care:
General Diagnostic
A range of radiographic and fluoroscopic exams are provided, including thoracic, abdominal, musculoskeletal, gastrointestinal, and genitourinary imaging.
Computerized Tomography (CT)
Sophisticated scanners capture a broad scope of diagnostic imaging, including exams of the head, spine, chest, abdomen, pelvis, extremities, and cardiovascular system. Among these advanced technologies is a low-dose CT scanner which provides high-quality imaging at the lowest possible radiation dosage (read more). CT-guided interventional procedures, such as biopsies and drainages, are also performed.
Ultrasonography
An extensive array of sonographic exams is available, including general abdominal, hepatobiliary, obstetrical, pelvic, and vascular, with imaging equipment that delivers a superior level of technology. Ultrasound-guided biopsies and aspirations are also conducted.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
A complete list of MRI exams is offered, such as neurological, abdominal, musculoskeletal, vascular, and breast imaging, in our state-of-the-art suite featuring high-definition,healthcare equipment.
Breast Imaging (Mammogram)
High-tech screening mammography, diagnostic mammography, breast sonography, and breast MRI are available in a private and comfortable atmosphere. Guided biopsies for lesion analysis are also done. All imaging is in strict compliance with the FDA’s Mammography Quality Standards Program.
Bone Density (DEXA Scan)
DEXA scanning has become the most widely used method for measuring bone mineral density. DEXA scanning more precisely documents small changes in bone mass and is also more flexible since it can be used to examine both the spine and the extremities. A scan of the spine, hip or the total body requires only one, two or four minutes respectively. DEXA scanning is less expensive than alternative measuring processes, exposes the patient to less radiation, and is more sensitive and accurate at measuring subtle changes in bone density over time or in response to drug therapy.
Nuclear Medicine
A wide range of scintigraphic imaging is provided, including exams of the thyroid, lungs, kidneys, bones, and gastrointestinal system.
