Acute Pain ManagementThe Acute Pain Management Service at Downtown Hospital offers patients relief from pain by use of Patient Controlled Analgesia (PCA) along with other modern techniques for achieving maximum comfort after surgery. These new approaches ease recovery for many patients who undergo surgery and include technology that enables patients to personally control the flow of pain medication, as needed. The Acute Pain Management Service is available to monitor care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Critical Care AnesthesiaCritical care anesthesiologists assist post-surgical patients with issues including the management of post-operative and post-anesthesia problems such as hypothermia, high or low blood pressure, postoperative pain, and difficult breathing.
Obstetric AnesthesiaObstetric anesthesiologists provide pre- and post-operative anesthesia care for patients undergoing labor and vaginal delivery, cesarean section (emergency and elective), and other emergency obstetrical procedures. The obstetric anesthesiologist performs post-childbirth consultations, provides care for critically ill patients, and cares for newborns that may have difficulty breathing immediately after delivery.
