Low Dose CT
CT scanning is vital to detecting disease or injury, but it does expose you to a certain amount of radiation, minimal as it might be. New York Downtown Hospital is the first and only hospital in the city to offer only low-dose CT scanning, which delivers superior image quality at the lowest possible radiation dosage.
The GE VCT 64-slice scanner substantially reduces the radiation dose to the body without compromising image quality. The scanner’s breakthrough ASIR (Adaptive Statistical Iterative Reconstruction) technology solves the problem of increased image “noise,” which typically occurs with dose reduction, by subtracting the noise, not merely masking it. It also gives physicians easy access to images and reports, which they can view through a secure Web-based PACS system.
At New York Downtown Hospital, our physicians know that such high-quality imaging leads to a more accurate diagnosis — and a clearer treatment path for their patients — so we have now installed this same ASIR technology in all of our CT scanners.
