There are subspecialties within many of these NYC clinical care departments. For example, Pediatric Neurology is a component of our pediatric clinical services. Also, we are the only hospital operating 24-hour New York emergency medical services in Lower Manhattan. The extensive scope of the clinical services offered at our Downtown Hospital allow us to meet many of the medical needs of the nearby community. Our research and clinical care departments regularly participate in medical studies as a way to gain valuable knowledge about diseases and conditions. Clinical trials are held periodically at our facilities. Our goal is for the information we obtain to contribute to the prevention, treatment and possible cures of specific diseases. Our membership in the New York-Presbyterian Healthcare System has allowed us to expand our potential for both clinical patient services and clinical research in New York City.
