Dr. Friedman is Chief of the Division of Shoulder Surgery at New York Downtown Hospital. He is an expert in the treatment of traumatic and degenerative disorders of the shoulder and elbow including arthroscopy and joint replacement. Dr. Friedman also specializes in sports medicine and musculoskeletal trauma.
Dr. Friedman holds a faculty appointment at New York Downtown Hospital as well as an academic appointment at NYU School of Medicine. Dr. Friedman is Board Certified and a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. In addition, he is a member of multiple local, national, and international orthopaedic societies. Dr. Friedman has numerous orthopaedic publications including clinical studies, review articles, and surgical techniques.
Dr. Friedman graduated with Honors from Cornell University and UMDNJ - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital Center - University Hospital of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, where he served as Chief Resident during his last year. Dr. Friedman furthered his training and completed the Harvard Shoulder Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and an AO Trauma Fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.
