What is Travel Medicine?

Travel Medicine is a range of health and medical services designed to prepare the international business or pleasure seeking traveler with appropriate vaccinations and educational information. NY Downtown Medical Associates provides the following services for travelers:

How can I use Travel Medicine?

The New York Downtown Medical Associates can provide you with required vaccinations for your specific countries of destination; inform you of the necessary precautions to take with foods, hygiene and water; alert you of seasonal precautions and appropriate preparations for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. AIl of these services are conveniently provided within our Downtown Hospital - based practice, which is minutes away from Wall Street, the South Street Seaport, City Hall, Chinatown, Tribeca and Soho.

Who needs Travel Medicine?

Almost anyone who travels internationally, whether you are going for business, pleasure, or relocation.

Due to insurance carrier limitations and restrictions we do not accept insurance for travel medicine services. However, we will be happy to assist you with any necessary documentation for reimbursement.

What do you need to know about Immunizations?

Immunizations build up your immune defenses against specific diseases. It is recommended that travelers see a physician at least six weeks prior to departure, in order to receive the optimal protection provided by immunizations. However, adequate protection can usually be given on short notice. The most common travel immunizations include: Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Polio, Typhoid, Japanese Encephalitis, Meningococcal, Polio, Yellow Fever, Diptheria/Tetanus, Rabies, and Measles.
